Disley Primary School Academy news
March 2020
At long last, after months of behind the scenes work and due diligence, we are in receipt of our Academy Order. This means that we have been given permission to change from a Maintained School to an Academy.
For those parents/carers who were not with us back in 2018 when discussions first started, this decision had been reached after consultation with parents, staff and other local stakeholders, and was driven by the fact that Cheshire East, as a decreasing local authority, is unable to give us the support we need in areas such as admissions, budget, opportunities for staff professional development and front office support. We felt confident that if Disley joined The True Learning Partnership (TTLP) Trust, our own individual needs as a community and strengths as a school would be recognised and be better supported.
The final step for us now is to receive our Funding Agreement from the Secretary of State. We are aiming for a conversion date of April 1st. We will retain our existing name of Disley Primary School and not change to Disley Academy.
We don’t envisage any huge changes will be seen by parents as we settle into the Academy Trust, but there will be better support for Leadership and front office staff and more opportunities for the children as we move forward. Other small improvements are already being put in place, such as setting up ParentPay for parents which will replace the current Cheshire East system for all online payments.
We would like to thank you all for your support and patience over the last 12 months.

Having discussed all the legal transfers and completed their due diligence, the Governing Board unanimously approved the move from maintained school to Academy .
March 2019
Governors met on March 27th to consider our next steps, taking into consideration all the information gained throughout the consultation period. They scrutinised questions and responses from parents, staff and other interested parties. They discussed all the information that had been gained as part of the due diligence process.
Attached below is a letter from the Chair of Governors to inform parents of the outcome and next steps.
The Governors voted unanimously to move forward with an application to become an academy; believing that this is the best decision for our school in the current times.
We will continue post any updates on this page over the coming weeks and months.
