Breaks, Snacks and Lunch

We are a No-Nut School.

Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children receive free fruit for morning break and free milk up to the age of five.

Children who bring in a snack for mid-morning break are encouraged to bring something healthy.

Please ensure any snacks or food items that children bring into school are nut-free!

School Dinners

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal each day under the Government's new scheme; Universal Free School Meals (UIFSM).  This takes effect from September 1st 2014.
Children bringing in a packed lunch are requested, to bring it in a named container.

Dinner money is currently £2.89 per day and should be paid via ParentPay.

At Disley Primary School, our school meals are provided by Chartwells, one of the UK's leading school catering providers. Chartwells is committed to serving nutritious, balanced and seasonal meals that help children stay healthy, energised and ready to learn. Their menus are carefully designed to combine familiar favourites with exciting new dishes, using quality ingredients and a focus on healthy eating. Seasonal menus are refreshed throughout the year and include a range of options to cater for different tastes and dietary requirements.

We encourage all families to explore the current menus and meal options available through Chartwells.

For information about allergies and special dietary requirements, please contact the school office. Our catering team works closely with families to ensure individual dietary needs are supported.

Water Bottles

We request that every child brings in a named bottle of water to school each day. It has been proven that fresh water helps the children to learn more effectively.

Free School Meals

You can only apply for Free School Meals for the 2026/27 academic year from 1 August 2026. Applications received before 31 July 2026 will not be processed.

You can claim free school meals for each child who attends school in Cheshire East if you receive one of these benefits:

  • Universal Credit with no earned income or with net monthly earnings less than £616.67
  • Income Support
  • Income based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income related Employment Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

The current rules that protect free school meal eligibility have been extended until the end of the 2025/2026 school year.

This means that if a child becomes eligible for free school meals based on their family's benefits during this time, they will keep getting free meals until the end of that school year even if their family’s income goes up or their situation changes.

Starting from the 2026/2027 school year, these protections will end. At that point, only families who meet the updated eligibility rules will be able to get free school meals.
